1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Skinclar ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. Skinclar is operated by the provider named at the end of these Terms, based in Switzerland.
2. Description of Service
Skinclar is a skincare intelligence application that allows users to scan and analyse skincare products, check ingredients, receive personalised product recommendations, and build skincare routines. Skinclar offers a free tier with limited usage and paid subscription tiers ("Pro" and "Premium") with extended features. Subscription details and current prices are shown on the subscription page.
3. Community and User Content
Skinclar includes a community where you can publish posts, photos, reviews and comments, and send direct messages to other users. The following rules apply to all of it.
- There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. This includes harassment, hate speech, threats, sexual content, nudity, content involving minors, illegal content, spam, and impersonation.
- Every post, comment and profile can be reported from its menu, and any user can be blocked.
- Reported content is reviewed and removed within 24 hours where it breaches these rules. Accounts that post such content may be suspended or removed without notice.
- You remain responsible for everything you publish. Do not upload images of other people without their consent.
- Do not use the community to give medical advice or to present yourself as a medical professional unless you are verified as an expert.
To report content or a user outside the App, write to the support address at the end of these Terms.
4. User Accounts
To use Skinclar, you must create an account using a valid email address. Account creation requires email verification: we send a 6-digit code to the address you provide, which must be entered to complete registration. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Disposable or temporary email addresses are not permitted.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the App's data or algorithms
- Share your account credentials with others or let someone else use your account
- Upload harmful, offensive, or misleading content
- Use automated tools to access the App
- Attempt to bypass security measures, rate limits, or access controls
Your Content and Photos
You keep ownership of the content and images you upload. By uploading a product scan, you grant Skinclar a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use the product packaging and ingredient images to operate and improve the Skinclar product database. This license exists so we can build a better product catalog for all users. It does not apply to your progress photos or to images you send in direct messages or group chats, which are never used to train AI models or build the database. You are responsible for the content you upload and must not upload images of other people without their consent.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
6.1 Subscription Plans
Skinclar offers three tiers:
- Free: A limited number of scans and AI routines per month, and basic ingredient search
- Pro: Full routine analysis, conflict detection between products, ranked alternatives, and higher scan limits
- Premium: Everything in Pro, plus the creator tier: a creator profile with your own links, profile analytics, a subscriber badge, and priority on questions posted in the community feed. The subscriber badge marks a paying member. It is not an expert credential; expert status is separate, requires document verification, and is free.
Both paid tiers are available monthly or yearly, and the yearly plan is cheaper per month. Current prices are shown in the App and on the subscription page, and may differ by country. Prices include any taxes that apply. Skinclar is operated as a sole proprietorship in Switzerland and is currently below the Swiss VAT registration threshold, so no VAT is shown separately.
6.2 Where You Subscribed Determines How Billing Works
Subscriptions can be purchased in two places, and the rules differ. Which one applies to you depends on where you completed the purchase.
- In the iPhone app: the purchase is an Apple In-App Purchase. Apple is the seller of record. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, the subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and all billing, renewal, cancellation and refund decisions are handled by Apple under Apple's terms.
- On the website: the purchase is processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. and Skinclar is the seller. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled beforehand, and you receive an email receipt after each payment.
6.3 Payment Processing
Skinclar never receives or stores your card details. Purchases made in the iPhone app are processed by Apple. Purchases made on the website are processed by Stripe; by subscribing there you also agree to Stripe's Consumer Terms.
6.4 Cancellation
If you subscribed in the iPhone app, cancel in your Apple Account settings under Subscriptions. Skinclar cannot cancel an Apple subscription for you. If you subscribed on the website, cancel through the billing portal in your profile or by writing to support. In both cases your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, after which the account returns to the Free tier.
6.5 Refunds
For purchases made in the iPhone app, refunds are requested from Apple and decided by Apple. Skinclar has no access to those payments and cannot issue a refund for them. For purchases made on the website, you may request a refund within 14 days of your first subscription payment by writing to support; refunds for later renewal payments are considered case by case, in particular where a fault on our side prevented you from using the service. Refunds are returned to the original payment method. Your mandatory rights under Swiss and EU consumer law are not affected by this section.
6.6 Price Changes
We may change subscription prices for future billing periods. You will be notified at least 30 days before an increase takes effect. If you do not accept the new price, you can cancel before it applies. For Apple subscriptions, Apple additionally asks for your consent to a price increase under its own rules.
6.7 Failed Payments
If a renewal payment fails, further attempts are made over the following days. If payment still cannot be collected, the account returns to the Free tier and paid features become unavailable. Content you created is not deleted by a downgrade.
Expert Consultations
Skinclar lets you book paid consultations with verified experts such as dermatologists and estheticians. Experts provide cosmetic guidance only: a consultation is not a medical appointment, does not create a doctor-patient relationship, and does not replace seeing a dermatologist for medical concerns. Skinclar acts as the platform between you and the expert. In the iPhone app, only live scheduled sessions between two people are offered, and these are paid outside of In-App Purchase, as permitted for real-time person-to-person services. Payments run through Stripe, Skinclar retains a platform fee, and the remainder is paid to the expert. Consultation refunds are handled case by case by support. Experts are independent and responsible for their own advice; verification confirms credentials, not the content of individual answers.
Affiliate Links
Some links to retailers on our website and in the App are affiliate links. If you buy something after following one of them, Skinclar may receive a commission from that retailer at no extra cost to you. These links are marked as sponsored. A commission never influences which products are recommended to you: recommendations come from your skin profile and the ingredient analysis, not from any commercial relationship. Skinclar does not sell products itself and is not a party to any purchase you make from a retailer.
7. Intellectual Property
All content, features, design, code, algorithms, and data within Skinclar are the exclusive property of the provider named at the end of these Terms. No part of the App may be copied, reproduced, or distributed without prior written permission. The Skinclar name, logo, and brand identity are protected intellectual property. © 2026 Skinclar. All rights reserved.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available". Skinclar does not guarantee that product or ingredient information is complete, accurate, or up to date, and does not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Skincare information and recommendations are for informational purposes only and are not medical advice. Skinclar does not diagnose or treat any condition. Always consult a dermatologist for medical skin concerns, and stop using a product if your skin reacts badly to it.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Skinclar's total liability towards you is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Skinclar is not liable for indirect or consequential damage, lost profits, or lost data. In particular, Skinclar is not liable for skin reactions or other effects caused by products you choose, buy and use yourself, whether or not the App showed information about them.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for intent, gross negligence, personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Swiss or EU law. Your mandatory rights as a consumer remain unaffected.
10. Apple App Store
If you obtained the App from the Apple App Store, the following applies in addition. These Terms are concluded between you and Skinclar only, not with Apple, and Skinclar alone is responsible for the App and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App. In the event the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App. Skinclar is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to a legal requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection law. Skinclar is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party claim that the App infringes intellectual property rights. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict of law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The place of jurisdiction is Zurich, Switzerland. If you are a consumer resident in the EU or the EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence and may also bring proceedings in the courts there.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms. Where a change materially affects your rights, you will be notified by email or in the App before it takes effect. Continued use of the App after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
